Salone Del Mobile 2018 Highlights: Part 3

This April the Olson and Baker team descended upon Salone del Mobile and it’s some, 300,000 visitors. Now in its 57th year, the trade show showed a lot of promise, given its previous years of fairly harsh criticism, we thought this year it fairly represented what is widely regarded as the furniture design industry’s most important design week. In a three-part series, we’re highlighting our favourite stands and pieces from the event…

Magis

Hall 20 Stand C 15 D 14
Inspired by the work of the celebrated Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio and his iconic masterpieces, Magis’ exhibition design at the Salone del Mobile is the fruit of a new partnership between the company and Note Design Studio in Stockholm.
One of our spotlight pieces had to be the Pina Chair.

“Gan is a concept firmly rooted in design and based on handmade products. In Gan, rugs are not merely decorative objects. Instead, they become a system of shapes and volumes that redefine the concept of habitability.
What defines and sets Gan apart is our appreciation for products made by hand, gently, piece by piece. All of our products are made in India by experienced craftsmen who use natural fibres: cotton, linen, jute, silk, and wool.”
On the stand, the focus was clear, for us the star of the show was the Knotwork.

Artek

Hall 20 Stand B 07 C 12
At Salone del Mobile 2018 Artek is asking „How big is small?”, exploring the potential of smaller spaces. As cities are growing denser and space is becoming scarcer, the topic gains relevance again today. Since the 1930s, Artek has provided clever solutions for compact spaces that are suited to the current moment. Intelligent and versatile, classic and contemporary designs serve multiple purposes and take on diverse roles. A Kaari Wall Shelf doubles as a desk; a Stool 60 is both side table and display. Flexible, multipurpose, and highly functional, Artek solutions provide maximum efficiency in minimum space.
